TRACKING TRENDS

MEXICO | Banxico lifts growth projection. The central bank Banco de México (Banxico) raised its GDP growth prediction for 2021 to 6.2%, from a previous estimate of 6%, on 31 August. In its April-June quarterly report, Banxico reduced its most optimistic growth prediction for 2021, however, from 7% to 6.7%. It also stressed that “the persistence of certain disruption in global supply chains and the recent increase in the number of Covid-19 infections [in Mexico] means a high uncertainty in the rhythm of recovery”.
