* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the September figures for its index of consumer confidence, which has registered a monthly increase after falling for two consecutive months. The consumer confidence index, which Inegi measures with the central bank (Banxico), grew 0.8 points in September compared with August. The September survey shows that consumers have both a more positive view of their current situation and future outlook than they did a month earlier. There are, however, negative variations amongst the complementary indicators which Inegi surveys as part of its consumer confidence national survey: consumers have a negative view of their possibility to save part of their income, and believe prices will keep increasing over the next 12 months.
