COLOMBIA: Duque’s US trip pays dividends

Colombia’s President Iván Duque packed a lot into his 11-12 October visit to the US, meeting the heads of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Organization of American States (OAS), and the investment banks JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs. The trip proved fruitful, with Duque announcing that he had secured US$2bn in finance from the World Bank, which he said would be used for environmental initiatives and to create opportunities for young Colombians.
