PARAGUAY: Partido Colorado exceeds electoral expectations

The Asociación Nacional Republicana-Partido Colorado (ANR-PC), Paraguay’s traditional ruling party, did much better than expected in municipal elections held on 10 October. Indeed, despite voter frustration with the long-running coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, and a low approval rating for President Mario Abdo Benítez, provisional results show that the ANR-PC performed better than the previous municipal elections held in 2015.
