The US has applied for the extradition of members of the Arellano Félix gang. The application was made by the Southern District Court in San Diego. John Ashcroft, the US Attorney-General, said that the US would extradite all the surviving members of the family and their chief lieutenants. 

The Arellano Félix gang ran the Cartel de Tijuana, which supplied most cocaine to the US in 2001. Benjamí­n and Francisco are in prison. Two other brothers and two sisters are still at liberty.
