In brief: Imports to Colombia increase in August

* Colombia’s national statistics department (Dane) has published the latest import figures, showing that the total value of imports in August was US$5.34bn. This represents a 49.8% increase compared with August 2020, when the economy flatlined amid restrictions imposed to counter the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. According to Dane, manufactured goods accounted for 76.4% of the total value of imports in August, followed by agricultural, food & drink products (15.0%), fuels & products from extractive industries (8.5%), and other sectors (0.1%).
