In brief: Mexico’s car sales fall

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released new figures which show Mexico’s car sales totalled 76,640 units in October, down 9.1% on the same month in 2020 and the lowest level for any October in a decade. According to the same figures, in the first ten months of 2021, 834,486 cars were sold, up 11.5% on the same period in 2020. While Mexico’s automobile industry has begun to recover from the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, it has been affected by a global shortage of semiconductors which is affecting automobile manufacturing globally.
