In brief: Argentina seeks new car export markets

* Argentina’s association of automobile manufacturers (Adefa) has met with Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero to discuss how to expand the export market for Argentine-manufactured cars. Adefa presented figures at the meeting showing Argentina’s automobile sector expanded by 89% in the year to date compared to the same period in 2020. Adefa said that the sector now represents 28.7% of Argentina’s total manufactured exports, and is expected to bring in approximately US$7.2bn in 2021. Adefa highlighted that over 60% of cars manufactured in Argentina are destined for export, with 97% of these going to Latin American countries.
