In brief: Mexico records trade deficit in October

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the latest figures on the country’s balance of trade, which show that the country recorded a US$2.70bn trade deficit in October this year, compared with a US$6.26bn trade surplus in October 2020. Over the January-October period, Mexico has accumulated a US$11.97bn trade deficit. According to Inegi, Mexico’s exports remained largely unchanged in October 2021 compared with 2020, at US$41.96bn, while imports grew 25% year-on-year to US$44.66bn.
