In brief: Uruguay’s exports increase

* The union of Uruguayan exporters (UEU) has announced that exports totalled US$950m in November – a 50.7% increase on the same month in 2020. In the 12 months to November, exports totalled US$9.55bn, representing a year-on-year increase of 37.4%. China remained the main export destination in November, accounting for US$251.3m in exports (a 62.1% year-on-year increase), followed by Brazil (US$226.8m; +107.5%), and Argentina (US$57.0m; +45.75%). Meat (US$301.5m; +46.7%) and timber (US$105.2m; -7.37%) were the most valuable exports, whilst the largest year-on-year increases were seen in the export of seeds and oleaginous plants (US$27.7m; +1,013.3%) and electrical energy (US$100.5m; +669.8%).
