In brief: Chile’s central bank raises benchmark interest rate

* Chile’s central bank (BCCh) has raised the benchmark interest rate by 125 basis points to 4.0% up from 2.75%. The decision which follows a similar hike in October, was taken unanimously by the BCCh’s board in its latest monetary policy meeting in response to inflationary pressures after annual inflation reached 6.7% in November, well beyond BCCh’s 3% target.
