ARGENTINA: IMF acknowledges shortcomings of 2018 stand-by programme

On 22 December the International Monetary Fund (IMF), currently negotiating a new economic stabilisation agreement with Argentina, acknowledged that its previous US$57bn stand-by agreement reached with the country in 2018 had been “too fragile” to address the country’s structural and political challenges.
