In brief: Uruguayan minister hails record agro-industrial exports

* Uruguay’s agriculture, livestock, and fisheries minister Fernando Mattos has said that the country’s agro-industrial exports totalled US$8bn in 2021, a new record. He said that agro-industrial exports represented 70% of total goods exported. He also said that there were “big expectations” for further growth due to Uruguay’s efforts to secure a free trade agreement with China, which were declared a priority by President Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou in September.
