In brief: Unemployment slows in Costa Rica

* Costa Rica’s national statistics institute (Inec) has released its latest figures on unemployment, which show that the unemployment rate totalled 14.4% in the September-November 2021 rolling quarter. This is down from 15.0% in the immediately preceding rolling quarter, ending in October 2021, and is an improvement on the 21.3% unemployment rate registered in the same period last year. The Inec report shows a high gender imbalance in unemployment, with a 17.8% unemployment rate amongst women compared with just 12.2% for men.
