In brief: Petroecuador’s production recovers from pipeline closures in Ecuador

* Ecuador’s state-owned oil company, Petroecuador, has announced that its oil production has almost returned to normal levels after soil erosion forced a suspension of pumping on two of its pipelines on 10 December. In a statement, Petroecuador said that production has now returned to 99% of level before the pipeline closures, and is expected to be fully restored by 18 January. The pumping suspension severely impacted Ecuador’s oil sector, with President Guillermo Lasso stating on 21 December that emergency repair works had led to US$533m in lost revenue.
