In brief: Annual inflation at 20-year high in Mexico

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released year-end figures on the national consumer price index (INPC) which show the annual inflation rate for 2021 at 7.36%, the highest recorded since 2001, and more than double the 3% inflation target figure set by Mexico’s central bank (Banxico). Inegi reported that monthly inflation in December was 0.36%.
