In brief: International tourism continues to rise in Mexico

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released new figures which show that 2.8m international tourists entered Mexico in November, up 38.5% on the 2.1m who visited in November 2020, but fewer than the 3.84m registered in November 2019 before the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic disrupted travel and tourism. The same figures show that in November 2021 revenue from international tourism totalled US$2.1bn, up from US$857m in November 2020. Significantly, revenue in November 2021 was also higher than the US$1.9bn recorded in November 2019, despite the higher number of international tourists that entered Mexico in that period.
