* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released is latest preliminary indicator of economic activity (IOAE), which estimates that productive activity fell by 0.2% in December 2021 compared to the same month in 2020, after eight consecutive months of year-on-year increases. According to an Inegi report, the IOAE data was driven by falling activity in the tertiary sector (services), which was down 1.3%. Activity in the secondary sector (manufacturing) was up 0.4% on the same month of the previous year. In November, the IOAE showed growth of 1.2% compared to the same month in 2020.
