Nayib Bukele has paid a visit to Turkey, where he met his Turkish counterpart
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and discussed “
strategic investment” and support in the areas of technology and education. President Bukele also announced cooperation to construct a new port as well as to send a Salvadorean satellite into space with Turkish technology. He also announced plans to open an embassy in Turkey and said that they had discussed the possibility of a “
dry canal”, as well as investment in a geothermal plant and in the acquisition of military equipment such as drones.
