MEXICO: Mexico-US security alliance fleshed out

The Mexican and US governments this week announced they had developed a 102-point action plan under the Bicentennial Framework on Security, Public Health, and Safe Communities. The much-trumpeted new security alliance, which was unveiled last October by the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and Mexico’s Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard [WR-21-41] is beginning to take shape. As with previous updates, however, the latest meeting gives a clear indication of the main focuses of the alliance, without offering much in the way of concrete programme details.
