In brief: Mexico’s economy minister reaffirms commitment to new FTAs

*Mexico’s Economy Minister Tatiana Clouthier has confirmed that the government will complete by the end of 2022 the four free trade agreements (FTAs) it is currently working on with South Korea, Brazil, Ecuador and the United Kingdom. Presenting the 2022 Economic Reactivation Plan, Clouthier did not give specific dates for the completion of the FTAs, but asserted that the government was “committed” to doing so this year. International trade is one of four central pillars of Mexico’s reactivation plan, with Clouthier stating she was confident the agreements “will open up a diversification of markets as well as increasing our exports”.
