In brief: Record natural gas production in Brazil

* Brazil’s Agência Nacional de Petróleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis (ANP), the federal oil & gas regulator, has reported that natural gas production reached a new record last year. According to the ANP, Brazil produced an average 134m cubic metres of gas per day in 2021, a 5% increase on 2020 production levels. Average oil production fell by 1.18%, however, to 2.905m barrels per day. The majority (72.4%) of Brazil’s national oil & gas production comes from the deepwater pre-salt fields.
