In brief: Mining royalties rebound in Bolivia

* The president of Bolivia’s state-run mining company Corporación Minera de Bolivia (Comibol), Eugenio Mendoza, has announced that mining royalties were up B$708m (US$102.9m) in 2021 compared to the previous year. Royalties received by departments last year amounted to B$1.6bn, up from B$914m in 2020. According to the national statistics institute (INE), in Q3 2021 the mining sector rebounded from the dip brought on by the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, with the sector growing by 53.82% year-on-year, compared to a 36.59% year-on-year contraction in Q3 2020.
