In brief: Rising inflation in Uruguay

* Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has released the latest consumer price index (IPC), which shows that monthly inflation increased by 1.78% in January and by 8.15% year-on-year. January inflation was driven by price increases in housing and utilities (+6.72%) among other sectors. Annual inflation was above the central bank (BCU)’s target range of 3-7%.
