In brief: Peru’s economic activity ticks up in December

* Peru’s national statistics institute (Inei) has announced that economic activity in December increased by 1.72% year-on-year, bringing the total increase from January-December 2021 to 13.31%. The largest December growth was in hotels and restaurants (+32.07% year-on-year), followed by transport, storage and delivery services (10.62%), and agriculture (+9.20%). Four categories saw a year-on-year decline in economic activity in December: fishing (-12.60%), construction (-8.90%), finance and insurance (-8.33%), and mining and hydrocarbons (-6.07%).
