MEXICO: Spain downplays tensions

Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares has spent much time stressing the strength of Spain’s economic and cultural ties with Mexico recently. On 14 February, he said relations between the two countries were set to “accelerate” in future – a far cry from the “pause” in relations that Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador had mooted just days before.
