MEXICO: Record foreign capital outflows set to continue in 2022

On 11 January, Mexico’s central bank Banco de México (Banxico) disclosed that outflows of debt instrument capital reached record levels during 2021. Debt outflows during last year totalled M$257.6bn (US$12.43bn), the highest since data was first recorded in 1992. The value of government debt shed by foreigners during 2021 was slightly larger than the outflow recorded in 2020, which totalled M$257.2bn.
