*Costa Rica’s agriculture and livestock ministry (Mag) has announced that a bilateral agreement has been inked between Mag’s phytosanitary service (SFE) and the equivalent body in Israel which will permit Costa Rica to export fresh pineapples, one of the country’s leading agricultural exports, to Israel. According to a Mag press release, since 2017 the two countries had been exchanging information regarding the issue while in 2019 Israeli phytosanitary authorities visited various pineapple production sites in Costa Rica to verify conditions of production among other things.
