Daniel Ortega has fired trade & industry (Mific) minister
Orlando Salvador Solórzano Delgadillo, one of the few ministers still in his post since President Ortega returned to power in 2007. Speculation surrounds the departure of the minister who reportedly had handed in his resignation in January over health reasons. The media also reported that he had stoked controversy after an interview with local TV station Canal 10 in April 2020 when he was unable to name the price of a basic basket of goods, saying that he thought it was between C$2,400 (US$67) and C$2,700 to which the journalist responded that it was C$14,000. Ortega has named as Solórzano’s replacement his deputy,
José de Jesús Bermúdez Carvajal.
