* Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) has released new figures which show remittances to Mexico totalled US$3.9bn in January 2022, a 19.6% increase on the same month of 2021. This brings the total for the past twelve months (February 2021 to January 2022) to US$52.2bn, surpassing the total received in the twelve months to December 2021, which had been a
record high. According to the same figures, remittances sent from Mexico to other countries totalled US$81m, which Banxico states is
“similar” to the amount recorded in January 2021.
