In brief: Paraguay’s inflation surges

*Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has released new figures which shows monthly inflation in February 2022 was 1.4% while year-on-year inflation was 9.3%, above the 7.9% rate registered in January and well beyond the BCP’s 4% target rate. According to BCP, inflation was driven by increases in food, fuel and services related to education as well as in durable goods. Paraguay’s inflation closed at 6.8% in 2021.
