MEXICO: US bans Mexican fishing boats from Gulf of Mexico

Since 7 February, Mexican fishing vessels have been banned from operating in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as from entering US ports or accessing port services. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries, a US government agency, said the restrictions were a result of the Mexican government’s failure to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing (IUU) of Mexican vessels in US waters.
