Letra S, a Mexico City-based (CDMX) civil society organisation dedicated to defending LGBTI+ rights, announced on 14 February that there had been an escalation in LGBTI+ hate crime in Mexico over the previous two months. The forms of violence ranged from discrimination in places of entertainment, to physical attacks, attempted homicides and murder, with eight killings recorded in January alone.
