In brief: Chile’s copper output declines in January

* Chile’s state copper commission (Cochilco) has released new figures which show that the country’s nationwide total production fell to 425,700 tonnes (t) in January 2022, down from 457,800t registered in the same month in 2021 and the lowest monthly total since February 2019 when 415,200t was produced. According to Cochilco, this follows declines reported by all major producers including state mining giant Codelco.
