Paraguayan government fails to placate protesters

Paraguay’s government is struggling to win over truckers, taxi drivers, and motorcycle delivery drivers who have been staging protests and roadblocks about high fuel prices since 14 March. The government announced on 16 March that the state-owned oil company Petróleos Paraguayos (Petropar) will reduce the cost of two types of fuel but it did not meet the scale of reduction demanded by the protesters.
