PERU: Congress moves to impeach Castillo

President Pedro Castillo is set to become the third Peruvian president in five years to face an impeachment trial. Congress approved a motion of impeachment against Castillo on 14 March. Accused of 20 separate offences, lumped under the banner of ‘permanent moral incapacity’, Castillo’s already weak grip over congress is clearly slipping. Yet his fate is far from sealed, and the odds are marginally in his favour as he prepares for the impeachment vote on 28 March.
