In brief: Mexico’s Ebrard visits Gulf states and India

*Mexico’s Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard has embarked on a ten-day international tour, which will see him visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and India. Mexico’s foreign ministry (SRE) said the main objectives of the trip were to attract investment, increase Mexico’s capacity to respond to riding energy prices and boost tourism. Ebrard arrived in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh today (23 March), where he held meetings with government representatives on investment, tourism, oil, energy and business, among other things. Ebrard will be in Qatar’s capital Doha from 26-27 March to participate in Doha Forum, an event bringing together global policy leaders, before travelling to the UAE on 28 March, where he will participate in the World Government Summit, another event for policy leaders, in the city of Dubai, as well as meeting with political representatives and investment funds. Finally, Ebrard will visit India on 30 March, where he will meet Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and meet representatives from India's pharmaceutical, technological and aerospace sectors, as well as the country's private sector.
