In brief: Bolivia’s central bank hails January remittance figures

*Bolivia’s central bank (BCB) has released new figures which show that remittances to Bolivia totalled US$114m in January 2022, which it said was the third highest amount since 2018. According to the BCB the main source of remittances in January 2022 was Spain which accounted for 33.0% of the total, followed by Chile (25.3%) and US (18.9%). According to the BCB, remittances to Bolivia totalled US$1.4bn in 2021, up 24% on the previous year while the January 2022 figure was up 0.3% on the same month in 2021.
