In brief: Economic activity increases in Mexico

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the latest figures for its monthly global indicator of economic activity (IGAE) which show economic activity increased by 1.8% in January, compared to the same month in 2021. According to Inegi the secondary sector (industry) grew 4.3%, while the primary sector (agriculture) was up 1.4% and the tertiary sector (services) expanded by 0.8%. In seasonally-adjusted monthly terms, economic activity was up 0.4% compared with December, with the secondary sector increasing 1% and the tertiary sector up by 0.2%, but the primary sector contracted by 2.3%.
