In brief: Chinese e-commerce giant opens sorting centre in Mexico
* Cainiao Network, the logistics arm of the Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba Group, has opened a sorting centre in Tultepec municipality, Estado de México. This will be Cainiao’s first sorting centre in Latin America, and will distribute parcels to all of Mexico’s 32 states. A Cainiao press release, citing an analysis from the Mexican online sales lobby Asociación Mexicana de Venta Online (AMVO), stated that Mexico’s e-commerce sector was worth M$401bn (US$20.1bn) in 2021, an increase of 27% on 2020.
