* Brazil’s labour ministry has released the latest figures from the national employment registry (Novo Caged), which show that a net 328,507 jobs were created in the formal sector in February. This is the result of over 2m job openings and 1.69m redundancies during the month, and brings the stock of formal jobs in Brazil to 41.12m. The level of formal job creation in February exceeded market expectations, with the ministry noting that it is the first time that more than 2m jobs are created within a month. However, this February’s result falls below February 2021 job creation levels (when over 397,000 new jobs were created in the formal sector), and the pace of new job openings is expected to slow in coming months.
