Inés María Chapman has announced that 206 hydraulic works are earmarked for this year, including investments and maintenance actions, to improve the supply of water to 635,986 inhabitants in the country’s 15 provinces. She said that the measures were necessary to address a drought which is affecting nearly a million people and saw rainfall fall to just 88% of its yearly average over the last 12 months. She also called for the strengthening of initiatives to save water, including the application of alternative technologies.
