Ecuador’s President Guillermo Lasso restructured his cabinet on 30 March. His hand was forced after Alexandra Vela resigned as government minister a day earlier. Vela cited differences with Lasso over the presidential prerogative of ‘muerte cruzada’, which allows the executive to dissolve the legislative assembly and govern by decree until new elections can be held.
