PARAGUAY: Politicians hit by drug investigations

A large-scale anti-narcotics and anti-money laundering operation launched by Paraguayan authorities in February has claimed several political scalps and resulted in the seizure of luxury assets worth millions of US dollars. The haul is likely to be just the tip of the iceberg, while the alleged links between politicians from the ruling Associación Nacional Republicana-Partido Colorado (ANR-PC) party and drug traffickers are a source of discomfort for the government led by President Mario Abdo Benítez.
