In brief: Job creation slows but remains strong in Mexico

* Mexico’s national social security institute (IMSS) has released a new report which shows that as of 31 March it had registered a total of 21.01m jobs. According to the report, in March 64,566 jobs were created in the formal sector, representing a monthly increase of 0.3%. Although strong, monthly job creation has slowed compared with February. In the first quarter of 2022, a total of 385,704 jobs were created, which IMSS states is the highest number for Q1 since records began. Between March 2021 and March 2022, 1.06m permanent jobs were created, a record for annual job creation.
