In brief: Recovery continues for Mexico’s tourism sector
* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released new figures which show that 2.62m international tourists entered Mexico in February, up 65.1% on the 1.59m who visited in February 2021, but fewer than the 3.76m registered in February 2020 before the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic disrupted travel and tourism. The same figures show that in February 2022 revenue from international tourism totalled US$2bn, up 181.1% from the US$712.3m received in February 2021, but still lower than the US$2.16bn recorded in February 2020.
