PERU: Torres scores untimely own goal

One of the few universal truths of politics is that citing Nazi Germany as an aspirational model is unlikely to go down well. Peru’s Prime Minister Aníbal Torres did just that, however, provoking a storm of criticism in an already torrid week for President Pedro Castillo. Indicative of Castillo’s reluctance to name a fifth prime minister in just nine months, it was not Torres who stood down, but the deputy culture minister, Sonaly Tuesta, who claims she was pressured to resign after criticising the remarks.
