In brief: Nicaragua announces new temporary fuel price freeze

*Nicaragua’s government led by President Daniel Ortega has announced that it will absorb 100% of fuel price increases for the week of 17-23 April. It said that diesel prices for this week should have increased by C$16.32 (US$0.45) this week and by C$30.00 per 25lb cylinder of liquid petroleum gas (GLP) (often used for cooking) but this would be absorbed by the government. It also announced it would freeze prices of premium and regular gasoline but did not indicate what this increase was.
