ECONOMIC HIGHLIGHTS

MEXICO | Inflation continues to rise. On 7 April, Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) released its latest figures on the national consumer price index (INPC) which showed that monthly inflation rose 0.99% in March 2022, bringing the annual rate to 7.45%. This was up from 7.07% in January and 7.28% in February, as inflation remains well above the 3% +/- 1 target range that Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) set for 2022. In a statement, Inegi said that the prices of agriculture products had increased 1.23% on the previous month and the prices of energy and other tariffs authorised by the government had risen by 2.24%.
