ARGENTINA-URUGUAY | Pain relief. Argentina’s President Alberto Fernández, and his economy minister, Martín Guzmán, last week announced that the government was preparing a programme of extraordinary bonuses for informal workers and low income earners to insulate them against accelerating inflation. Inflation in the first quarter of 2022 was as high as 16.1% and reached 6.7% in March alone. Fernández admitted that inflation was devouring the income of the most vulnerable sectors in the country.
